The Sicilian Symphony Orchestra dedicated concerts in Palermo to the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, whose 150th anniversary is celebrated this year. The famous Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev performed as a soloist, Russian consulate general of Palermo reports on its telegram channel.

The orchestra from Sicily and the Russian musician played works by Russian classics: ''Vocalise No. 14'' and ''Concerto No. 2'', written more than 100 years ago.

Earlier, a concert of friendship between Russia and Italy took place in Rome; the event was hosted by the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo. The works of Sergei Rachmaninoff were performed there. The organizers called culture a bridge between peoples that does not need to be destroyed during times of political disagreement.
