The 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff was celebrated in Genoa, Italy, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

In Nervi, where the International Ballet and Music Festival takes place, the audience watched saw the Soirèe Rachmaninoff performance. Its idea belongs to Italian impresario Daniele Cipriani. He is known for his love of Russian ballet. He is also the founder of the Benois-Massine Moscow-Positano award. Last year, he presented to the Italian and Russian public his performance dedicated to another genius of Russian culture - Igor Stravinsky.

Daniele Cipriani combines dance, music and text to tell the story of the greatest composer, recalling that Sergei Rachmaninoff was also considered a great conductor and pianist.

Music and dance are clear to everyone, they know no boundaries, he is sure, reminding that he is not interested in politics. Nevertheless, he has no doubt that such a production can turn into another step towards a better world.

Soirée Rachmaninoff begins with a prelude in C-sharp minor performed by the author. Then the Rana sisters, a pianist and a cellist, perform vocalisms in E minor.

More than ten dancers perform on the stage to the music of Rachmaninoff, along with choreographers Sasha Riva and Simone Repele.

The next Soirée Rachmaninoff will take place Ravenna, Italy on July, 6.
