At Carnegie Hall, on one of the main stages of New York and the USA, a concert was held to mark the 150th anniversary of the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. The Cultural Exchange Foundation, which organized the concert, plans to hold Rachmaninoff evenings in major American cities, TASS reports.

Rachmaninoff's widely acclaimed works, including arias from the operas Aleko, The Miserly Knight and Francesca da Rimini, were performed during the concert.

The head of the Foundation, Konstantin Orbelyan, noted that the United States could not ignore the anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff, since American culture, including Hollywood cinema, is filled with his work.

Orbelian called attempts to ban Russian classical music unsuccessful and expressed hope that music could help heal relations between Russia and the United States.
