Exhibition about Sergei Rachmaninoff opened in Vienna

The "I am a Russian composer" exhibition began to work in the Austrian capital the day before, on May, 18, TASS reports. It is dedicated to the anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninov. Almost two months ago, on April, 1, it was 150 years since his birth. The exposition, prepared by the Russian National Museum of Music, is located in the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo.

Russian Ambassador Dmitry Lyubinsky noted that such cultural projects are in great demand among the Russian-speaking community.

According to Mikhail Bryzgalov, General Director of the Museum of Music, Europeans are also interested in Russian culture. He recalled that the exhibition had already worked in Italy, Germany and France. Everywhere the public got acquainted with the exhibits with great interest.

The exhibits were handed over to the museum by friends and relatives of the great musician. Many exhibits are being presented to the public for the first time, including historical documents, archival photographs, concert programs, and posters. They are complemented by multimedia content. QR codes will allow visitors to hear Rachmaninoff's works performed by the author and other outstanding musicians, as well as take an audio tour of the exposition.

The exhibition reveals the three main aspects of Rachmaninov's work. He is presented as a composer, pianist and conductor. The exposition introduces visitors to the various facets of his personality.

The exhibition started with a concert, where pianist Andrey Diev and violinist Alexei Koshvanets performed.

The day prior to the start of the exposition, a conference was held at the Russian House in Vienna. Mikhail Bryzgalov told its participants about the life and work of the composer, as well as about the activities of the museum and its collection.
