The ceelbration of Sergei Rachmaninoff's anniverasy continues all over the world, TASS reports. That year marked 150 years since the birth of the great composer, conductor and pianist. In honor of this date, Rachmaninoff's music was performed in Hong Kong.

The Rachmaninoff Extravaganza concert took place the day before, on September, 14. The Hong Kong Festival Orchestra performed Vocalise, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Symphony No. 1. The artistic director of the creative team, Mark Hui, took the place at the conductor's stand. He says he is proud of the program because it introduces the public to Rachmaninoff's different styles.

According to the organizers, these works are timeless, they have their own style and character. They form a ''musical portrait'' of their author, one of the greatest composers of all time.

Vocalise was performed by Hong Kong pianist Rhythmi Wong along with the orchestra.

The listeners received the musicians very warmly, the concert ended with thunderous applause, the audience gave the orchestra a standing ovation, calling it for an encore several times.

A week ago, a marathon concert dedicated to the work of the great Russian composer took place in Palermo, Italy. The event was included in the Palermo Classic program. 14 musicians from different countries took part in the concert. They performed more than 20 works by Rachmaninoff. Russian pianist Alexander Yakovlev also appeared on stage. Rachmaninoff's anniversary was celebrated in the capital of Colombia and in many other countries.
