The Brothers Karamazov Museum opens soon in Staraya Russa, Novgorodskaya Oblast. Local Memorial Dostoevsky House-Museum director Natalia Kostina has marked that the exhibition is arranged out of 19th century household items.

Museum workers were collecting various antiques that could serve as a living environment for The Brothers Karamazov' characters could. For example they have put together Fedor Pavlovich's home furnishing, acquired an antique bed that might be owned by Ekaterina Ivanovna, et cetera.

Museum is located in the ex-house of Becklemishev merchants. Besides authentic items, all features of today's world are going to be installed, like digital screens with audio tours, HD media players, and the special map that would demonstrate all the characters' movements around the city Staraya Russa where the main body of Dostoevsky's work was done.

The Karamazov museum is the second museum in Staraya Russa dedicated to Dostoevsky. Russian Ministry of Culture has allocated $600,000 grant for this project.
