Translator of Dostoevsky’s works in Argentina awarded for his contribution to preservation of writer's heritage

Alejandro Gonzalez, the head of the Argentinean society of Dostoevsky, was noted for a great personal contribution to the preservation and popularization of the writer's heritage. He received a memorable medal of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, released in honor of the Dostoevsky's anniversary.

The ceremony took place on November, 16 in Buenos Aires. Alejandro Gonzalez, which is considered one of the outstanding translators of the works of Russian literature into Spanish, received the medal from the hands of the Russian ambassador Dmitry Feoktistov.

The translator studied the Russian language in Russia, he graduated from the university in Petrozavodsk. His works are marked by many awards. Among them are the Prize of the Slavic Art forum of the Golden Vityaz and the Moscow Institute for Translation. His work was also noted in his homeland. Three times he was awarded the Teatros del Mundo award for translations into Spanish of the works of Turgenev and Chekhov.
