A literary festival dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Fyodor Dostoevsky was held in Erfurt, Germany. The guests of the festival learned about the connection of the Russian writer with Germany and other interesting facts about the writer, listened to the music of Dostoevsky's favorite composers in a live performance, Russkoye Pole reports.

The festival was organized by the Gagarin Society with the support of the Erfurt authorities. The soiree at the beginning of the festival was symbolically held on the Day of Russia, June 12. Admirers of the Russian classic gathered in the historic banquet hall of Caroline von Dahereden's house.

The head of the Gagarin society, Elena Eremenko, spoke about the role of Fyodor Dostoevsky in the history of world literature and the writer's connection with Germany. He lived in this country, read German philosophers and writers, listened to the works of composers from Germany.

The festival will continue on June 18 and 25.
