The issue of legal protection for Russian journalists and employees of Russian-language media became one of the main topics at the first meeting of the International Association of Independent Internet Journalists and Bloggers - Media Alliance of Russian Communities (MARC). The meeting took place in Brussels, according to the website of the Moscow House of the Compatriot.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy in Belgium, employees of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Moscow government, as well as representatives of associations of journalists and bloggers from Russian-language media in different countries. Journalists from Russia, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Estonia and other countries were elected to the board of the Association.

The idea of an association, which could consolidate the staff of the Russian-language media and protect them from harassment and interference in the work, was first discussed four years ago. It was expressed during a round table in the European Parliament. After that, for several years the issue was actively discussed at congresses and forums of Russian compatriots and Russian-language media.

According to the head of MARC Sergey Petrosov, the association is ready to cooperate with all organizations that are interested in it and is actively attracting young journalists to participate in the work.
