Maria Zakharova: Macron's accusations against Russian press are unproven

President Emmanuel Macron did not sustain his statements blaming Russian media for supporting the protest movement in France. The representative of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova called his statements “deceitful and unproven,” RIA Novosti reports.

As French media write, President is confident that "yellow vests" have consultants abroad. He noted that the activity of protesters is supported by “purchased accounts in social networks”. According to French President, RT channel and Sputnik news agency are engaged in such manipulations.

Macron added that in the case with "yellow vests" "the sphere of the fascists, the sphere of the left and Russian sphere represent 90% of the movements on the Internet."

MFA Russia is wondering how Macron made such conclusions that Russian media was buying accounts in social networks and offering "explosive questions for political discussions" with their help.

If the publication in French press is true, then it is Macron himself who is the main producer of fake news, MFA representative noted. The fact that he expresses concern about them is nothing more than props, Ministry emphasized.

Neither RT nor Sputnik buy accounts on social networks, Zakharova assured. Paris has been asked to prove these accusations several times, but no adequate response followed, because these accusations are false.

Russian media show protest participants more often than other channels do, as the authorities do not allow their representatives to communicate with RT and Sputnik.

Western press invites members of any opposition movements of those countries whose course diverges from the line of the West. However, French media refuse to quote Russian officials.

In addition, it is a rare meanness and a complete illiteracy to put Russians on a par with fascists, Zakharova added. If French leader really wants to tackle historical parallels, he can compare Hitler with Napoleon. Russia will help with the evidence in this case, Maria Zakharova promised.
