vesmirbooks.ru/All World Publishing and Gorbachev Foundation introduced Russian-language translation of book by Suzanne Massie “Trust But Verify: Russian Lessons for Reagan”. The event took place on December,12 at the Gorbachev Foundation.

86 years old author came to Moscow from her home in Maine to attend the presentation of her memoir, which details her role as a private-citizen diplomat at the end of the Cold War and her interactions with Ronald Reagan at the end of 1980s.

Her previous book “Nicholas and Alexandra” devoted to Romanov Tsar family had enough success to continue.. She went on to write more books about Russia, including the best-selling “Land of the Firebird,” describing the history of Russia from the “religious revolution” of 987 to the political Russian Revolution of 1917, which Ronald Reagan read.

Michail Gorbachev, general director of All World Publishing Oleg Zimarin, businessman Rostislav Ordovsky-Tanaevsky Blanco, U.S. Ambassador John Huntsman and other public figures were present at the book launch.

According to John Huntsman, this book “is a great contribution to better understanding the U.S.-Russia relationship. It goes back to the earliest days of its transformation from a competitive and challenging relationship to one more based on mutual respect and trust. Those are lessons we could learn today. Private citizens can play a role, just as Suzanne did.”
