Moscow International Book Fair kicks off for 36th time

The Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF) opened on Wednesday, August, 30, TASS reports. Its program includes more than 300 events. Among them are creative meetings with writers and poets, presentations of book novelties, scientific conferences, seminars. The book fair has already become the 36th in a row.

This year it is complemented by the Moscow International Children's Book Fair. It is taking place for the first time. The events of the new book forum will also be held online at the MIBF ONLINE site. The organizers promise a live broadcast for those who are interested in books, literature and culture in general.

MIBF participants will include publishing houses from Russia, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, China, and Iran. Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the novelties of children's literature, the works of contemporary authors and classics of world literature. It will also include historical studies, textbooks, comics, non-fiction books and much more.

This year, Belarus received the status of an honored guest. Sergey Kaikin, director of the Moscow International Film Festival, noted that the country will have the largest stand, and has prepared a very interesting program. According to him, all CIS countries will be represented within the framework of the fair.

Writers Dmitry Danilov, Daria Dontsova, Denis Dragunsky, Mikhail Elizarov, Alexandra Marinina will take part in the fair. They will be joined by President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner, psychologists Mikhail Labkovsky and Tatyana Muzhitskaya, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, art historian Zelfira Tregulova and others.

The "Asymmetric Time" gift album will be presented during the fair. It is dedicated to the anniversary of the poet Andrei Voznesensky. This year marks the 90th anniversary of his birth.
