Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev proposes to erase references to assistance from Moscow from Bulgarian history textbooks. According to him, it is necessary to ''adjust'' the school curriculum, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

The head of the security department, who is considered one of the most active supporters of the anti-Russian course pursued by Sofia, is sure that it is necessary to remove facts that could give rise to ''gratitude for Russia.'' Those are the decisive role of Russia in gaining the independence of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke, which lasted 500 years, and the liberation of the country from the Nazis.

The minister, during a speech in the United States, recalled that Bulgaria and Russia, in historical perspective, were already on opposite sides of the conflict. Perhaps he meant that Sofia supported Nazi Germany during World War II.
