A parcel of humanitarian aid was sent to Gansu, a Chinese province affected by the earthquake, TASS reports. More than 60 kilograms of food were collected at the Russian Cultural Center (RCC) in Beijing. Candies, cookies, condensed milk and other sweets are intended for children's New Year's gifts.

According to Tatyana Urzhumtseva, who heads the RCC, the parcel was sent on December, 27 so that the children had time to receive gifts for the holidays.

A letter of gratitude has already been received from the authorities of Gansu Province. The administration thanked the Center for ''sincere love that transcends national boundaries.''

The tremors occurred on the night of December, 19. The number of victims exceeded 1,000 people, almost 150 people died. Many people found themselves homeless - more than 150,000 houses were damaged. Civil infrastructure facilities, roads, energy and water supplies, and communications were also destroyed.
