Russia to open digital platform with translations of Russian classics

An open digital platform with translations of Russian classics into foreign languages will be opened in Russia. The corresponding instruction was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin following the plenary session of the 9th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, held on November 17, 2023, the official website of the President of Russia reports.

Proposals for the creation of such a platform should be prepared by the Ministry of Digital Development together with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the participation of the Pushkin House by May 15. It is planned to post translations of classical works written in the 19th and 20th centuries online.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova and Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications Maksut Shadayev were appointed responsible for the implementation of the order.
