The practice of expanding visa-free entry for Russians to Thailand may be repeated in 2024, says Thai Ambassador to Moscow Sasivat Wongsinsawat, RIA Novosti reports.

Since November of 2023, Bangkok temporarily expanded the visa-free entry regime for Russians from one month to three. The regime is valid until the beginning of May. Thailand has also temporarily allowed 30-day visa-free entry to citizens of China and Kazakhstan, who previously used a visa on arrival, for the period from September 25, 2023 to February 29, 2024.

The diplomat noted that Thailand wants tourists to come to the country for different purposes, so that they have more time to get to know the country. Apart from Phuket and Pattaya, Thailand has a lot to offer to international visitors.

According to the Thai press, Thailand intends to develop ten secondary regions to enhance their tourism and economic potential. It seeks to develop other areas as well, such as agriculture and energy.

The Ambassador has no doubt that Moscow and Bangkok have the political will to strengthen energy cooperation, but this will all depend on negotiations between Russian and Thai companies.
