No Russians injured during earthquakes in Japan

Diplomats have not received any information about Russians injured in Japan during the earthquakes, TASS reports. The Russian Consulate General in Niigata Prefecture, which was at the epicenter of the natural disaster, said that they are in constant contact with emergency services. Diplomats continue to monitor the situation.

Almost 50 earthquakes occurred in central Japan on the first day of 2024. The death toll is approaching 50 people, and several dozen more were injured. For the first time in more than a decade, a threat of a ''big tsunami'' was declared. It lasted for about a day.
 
A tsunami threat was also declared for several regions of the Russian Far East. Among them are the Sakhalin Region, Khabarovsk Territory and several settlements in Primorye. No dangerous waves were recorded.

Seceral buildings collapsed due to the earthquakes, thousands of homes were left without electricity. In some regions there is no water supply or communications, roads have been damaged. No malfunctions in the operation of nuclear power plants were detected.
