25,000 tons of wheat from Russia, transported by sea, were delivered to the Mozambican port of Beira. The cargo is destined for Zimbabwe, the grain is delivered to the African country as part of a humanitarian project implemented on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, TASS reports.

Patrick Muzvimbiri, an employee of the Zimbabwe Grain Marketing Authority, said that the ship will be unloaded in the near future. The grain will be delivered to Zimbabwe by road and will reach the recipient in full within two to three weeks.

Last August, the Russian leader celebrated the successful completion of negotiations on the free transfer of grain to six African states in volumes from 25,000 to 50,000 tons each.

Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, the Central African Republic and Eritrea will receive humanitarian aid as part of the initiative. At the end of November, the Russian side noted that the delivery of grain to a number of African countries had started.
