The premiere of the ''Riddles of the Universe'' play, staged in the Russian style, took place in Shanghai. The art show with scenes from Russian fairy tales and Russian costumes on the stage of the local Zhangjiang theater was timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and China, the ArtMoscovia website reports.

The performance based on Russian folk tales was staged by the Shanghai Farm of Talents group, written by Daria Yakovenko, directed and set by Angie Taratuta and Kirill Papernov.

The production plays out the symbols of Russian culture and plots of famous Russian fairy tales, including ''At the Pike’s Behest,'' ''The Snow Maiden'' and others.

In 2024, the troupe intends to present the performance in Russian. Earlier this year, the same producers presented children's productions based on Russian fairy tales in Russian and Chinese in Shanghai. A fair of Russian folk crafts and culture was also held there.
