1,345 people became winners and prize-winners of the international online Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language. The tournament is being held for the fourth time, with St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) acting as the organizer. The university said that the number of participants this year exceeded the figures of the previous Olympiad by more than forty percent.

Russian language enthusiasts from 144 countries, aged 12 to 35, competed for the award. Representing diverse regions, including the near abroad, African and European countries, participants showcased increasing levels of preparation each year. In 2023, an impressive three hundred individuals aced the second round without a single mistake.

Diplomas of the first degree were granted to 477 foreign participants, with second and third places awarded to 433 and 435 people, respectively. Victory in the Olympiad not only brings recognition but also the privilege of taking the Russian as a foreign language exam for free in 2024. Furthermore, winners and prize-winners will receive additional points in their portfolios for admission to St. Petersburg State University.
