Film by Iranian director named best at Spirit of Fire film festival

The work of the Iranian film director Shahram Ebrahimi, Parallax, became the best at the Spirit of Fire film festival, TASS reports. Traditionally, the International Film Debut Festival takes place in Khanty-Mansiysk. The creative forum was held for the 21st time. It was dedicated to the cultures of small nations.
 
According to the chairman of the international jury, Pavel Lungin the jury voted unanimously for the choice of the main award of the film forum.

The second prize went to the director from India, Part Saurabhu for On Both Sides of the Pond. The third was won by director Wang Chunhun from Taiwan for Far Away Eyes.
 
Anton Yermolin was named the best director. Cuckoo by Yevgeny Nikolaev was recognized as the best short film, Sweet Potato Flavored Ice Cream by Chinese director Wang - the best film for children. 

Malika Musaeva won the competition of Russian debuts withThe Cage is Looking for a Bird. The movie is shot in the Chechen language.

Seven films competed for the victory at the festival. The competition program included works by filmmakers from Russia, France, Japan, Argentina, India, China and Iran.
 
Six films were included in the competition of Russian debuts, the audience was also offered an out-of-competition program.

Last fall, director Emir Kusturica took over as president of the film festival. He replaced Sergey Solovyov in this post, who was the initiator of the festival until his death in 2021.
