Syrian authorities highly appreciated Russia's contribution to elimination of earthquake consequences

The Syrian government highly appreciated the Russian contribution to the elimination of the consequences of the devastating earthquake that occurred on February, 6, RIA Novosti reports. Deputy Minister of Local Self-Government and the Environment of the country Moataz Kattan praised the work of Russian rescuers. The Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties (CRWP) in Syria provided assistance to people living in Latakia and Aleppo, who suffered the most from the natural disaster, Kattan stressed.

The number of victims of in Syria is approaching 1,500 people, almost 2,500 people were injured.

In total, Syria received assistance from 19 states, it was delivered by almost 200 aircraft, TASS reports. Of these, 70 aircraft landed at the airfield of the Russian Khmeimim air base.

The mobile hospital of the Russian Ministry of Health is operating in Syria. It is designed to help earthquake victims. The hospital was delivered by military aircraft with 15 tons of humanitarian aid - medicines, equipment, essentials. They were collected by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation together with Syrian diplomats.
