Monument of Chekhov and stele with Pushkin's poem unveiled in South Korea

Seoul Cyber ​​University has immortalized the memory of the Russian writer and playwright Anton Chekhov and the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin by opening a monument and a stele on the territory of the university, the MIR24 website reports with reference to TASS.

Representatives of the Russian-Korean Society of Culture and Art, diplomats from the Russian Embassy, ​​former ambassadors of South Korea in Russia, and local researchers of the Russian language and literature took part in the opening ceremony.

The founder of the Society, Lee Se Un, initiated the istallation of the monuments. He admires the works of the Russian classic from the young age. 

The opening ceremony of the Pushkin stele was followed by a reading of a poem by the Russian classic performed by the famous South Korean actress Pak Chung-ja, who previously shone in the production of Chekhov's Three Sisters.

The Russian-Korean Society for Culture and Art announced plans to install a monument to the outstanding Russian ballerina Agrippina Vaganova, after which the territory of the Seoul university can be called a "memory park of Russian culture." A monument to the composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky was installed at the university five years ago.
