A descendant of Leo Tolstoy, Russia's presidential adviser on culture Vladimir Tolstoy hopes that work on the series about his great-grandfather would begin soon. According to him, this is a very difficult project that requires a lot of time and significant investments, RIA Novosti reports.

Vladimir Tolstoy noted that he had already written the script. The story is so extensive that it will be enough to cover several seasons, he added. Tolstoy believes that it is time to start gathering a film crew and raising money. He also hopes the series will be ready for the bicentennial of his famous great-grandfather. Leo Tolstoy's 200th anniversary will be celebrated in 2028.

Vladimir Tolstoy expects that production will be launched in 2023, and the first seasons of the new series will be released in 2025.
