The ''Repin and Tolstoy'' exhibition will present the works by the artist Ilya Repin and the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy in China. An exhibition dedicated to the two greatest masters of Russian culture will open on November, 6 at the museum of the Chinese artist and writer Mu Xin.

The exhibition, prepared by the State Museum of Leo Tolstoy, is dedicated to the friendship of the two Russian geniuses, which lasted 30 years. Over the four years of its existence, the exhibition was shown in cities of Russia and Belarus, arousing wide interest.

As part of the exhibition, Ilya Repin's canvases, depicting Leo Tolstoy and the artist himself, were sent to China.

The letters the two classics sent to each other, Leo Tolstoy's early editions, graphic sketches by Repin depicting the writer and members of his family are among the exhibits.

General Director of the State Museum of Leo Tolstoy Sergei Arkhangelov hopes that the exhibition will launch the institution’s interaction with Chinese museums.
