Series of books to be published in honor of Tolstoy's 200th anniversary

The AST Russian publishing house is going to publish a series of books with historical and literary analysis of the biography and works of Leo Tolstoy. ''The Tolstoy: A New Look'' project is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the writer, which will be celebrated in 2028, TASS reports.

The project has already started with the release of  ''The True Story of Anna Karenina" book.

According to the publisher Elena Shubina, the book examines the main and secondary characters of the novel, as well as the literary tools used by Tolstoy. According to the famous writer and biographer Pavel Basinsky, the first volume offers rich factual material about the life of the writer and his era, which will help to understand and discover new features of Anna Karenina.

The series will also include books about the departure of Leo Tolstoy from Yasnaya Polyana at the end of his life, about the writer's disputes with the famous preacher John of Kronstadt, about the son of the writer Lev Lvovich.

The anniversary of Leo Tolstoy in 2028 will be celebrated at the state level.
