Scientists from Yakutia are working to create "smart" clothes for work in frosty conditions. New electronic textiles are based on graphene oxide. They will help protect from the effects of low temperatures, TASS reports.

The new textiles are being developed at the Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University. The fabric withstands serious mechanical loads and have other qualities that are applicable in the Far North. It is safe for humans and relatively cheap.

According to one of the developers, the fabric can monitor vital signs. Nanomaterials, which are added to the fabric, endow it with the ability to measure the work of human organs and to heat up on its own. Conductive polymers, metal nanowires and nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, graphene and its derivatives are used to create the cloth.
