About 30 orchestras from Russia and abroad will join the International Immortal Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Diary newspaper reports. The musicians are going to perform the legendary march Farewell of Slavianka by Vasily Agapkin.

The memorial action is dedicated to the musicians of the USSR State Brass Orchestra. They voluntarily went to the front, enlisting in the people's militia, and died in the bloody battles of the first months of World War II on the outskirts of Moscow. The action will also be a tribute to those thousands of cultural figures who gave their lives on the battlefields and in the performance of official duties.

Sergey Polyanichko, conductor from St. Petersburg, became the author, inspirer and initiator of the project. He called extreme injustice that the feat of musicians was forgotten. Work in the archives was carried out for several years, and now it has been possible to establish about 80 names of members of the orchestra. They were immortalized on a memorial plaque installed on the Memorial Field near Vyazma.

The International Immortal Orchestra festival was dedicated to their feat. Unfortunately, this year it was hindered by restrictions imposed due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation. Nevertheless, the action will be held online.

The International Immortal Orchestra action will continue on September 2, it will be timed to coincide with the end of the Second World War.
