The construction of a bridge over the border Amur river in Blagoveshchensk has been completed, RIA Novosti reports. It is the only bridge that connects Russia and China. It will start functioning when all necessary documents are ready. The opening of the bridge is scheduled for spring.

More than six hundred trucks, about one hundred and seventy buses, almost seventy cars will pass through the cable-stayed bridge with a two-lane highway every day. The bridge is also designed to withstand five and a half thousand people a day.

The construction of the bridge began four years ago, the project cost amounted to almost nineteen billion rubles. Russia invested almost two-thirds of the funds.

According to the governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov, the Power of Siberia gas pipeline will open very soon. It is intended for the supply of Russian gas to China. The construction of the cableway has also started.

The new cable-railway will be the first cable car in the world to connect the two countries. The cable-railway will turn into an additional incentive to enhance cooperation between regions, which, in turn, will intensify interaction in the economy.
