The works of Friedrich Schiller and Fyodor Dostoevsky will unite the exhibition, which started November 11 in the German city of Marbach am Neckar. It entered the program of the large-scale Russian Seasons cultural project, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture.

The exhibition was organized by the Dahl Literary Museum and the German Literary Archive in the city of Marbach am Neckar, where the great Schiller was born.

The exhibition allows to open to the public new pages in the history of Russian and German cultures, their interaction and interpenetration. It tells about Dostoevsky’s acquaintance with Schiller’s work in childhood, about Schiller’s place in Dostoevsky’s creative biography, about the reflection of Schiller’s images on the pages of works by the Russian writer.

Russkiy Mir reported earlier that the 200th anniversary of the great writer would be celebrated in 2021 at the state level. The anniversary of Dostoevsky will become a world event under the auspices of UNESCO. In the spring, the head of the organization Audrey Azoulay invited Russia to jointly celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Russian classic at a meeting with the Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky.

The writers' personal belongings, their autographs and illustrations for their works, portraits, Schiller’s translations by Mikhail Dostoevsky, letters and much more will be exhibited at the event.

The international Schiller, Dostoevsky and European Culture conference is timed to coincide with the exhibition; researchers of the works of both writers will take part in it.
