Next year will be the Year of Germany in Russia, RIA Novosti reports. According to German Ambassador Geza Andreas von Geir, the program of the Year starts in the summer. The diplomat assured that a wide range of various events would be prepared for the Russians across the whole country. The head of the diplomatic mission explained that it was planned to acquaint the public with a huge variety of cultural and social life of Germany.

Russkiy Mir reported that this year Germany hosted the Russian Seasons. The program included more than 450 concerts, festivals, performances and exhibitions in 77 cities of Germany. A series of events that took place throughout 2019 was opened in January at the Berlin Philharmonic by the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. A month later, the festival of Valery Gergiev was held in Munich.

Russian Seasons were very successful in Germany, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Eleonora Mitrofanova said. According to her, the events of the large-scale cultural project are very popular among the German public. She recalled that Germans were very fond of Russian art and greeted the Russian theater, opera and ballet with great warmth.
