Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra opened Festspielhaus Summer Festival

The performance of Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra has opened the program of the Summer Festshpilhaus Festival, the website of the Ministry of Culture informs. It is included in the program of Russian Seasons. For three days, Russian artists will perform in Baden-Baden, on the stage of the country's largest concert hall. Valery Gergiev takes a place at the conductor's stand.

Alexander Kantorov performed as a soloist at the opening concert. Young French pianist recently won the Grand Prix of Tchaikovsky international competition. He performed the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 by Tchaikovsky. Musician played it in the final. Works of Wagner and Tchaikovsky were also performed.

The second concert was composed of the music of Prokofiev and Shostakovich. The final point will be Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra opera, staged by Mariinsky Theater with the participation of the most famous names of world opera art. The main part will be performed by Placido Domingo. Ferruccio Furlanetto, Roman Burdenko and Tatyana Serzhan are among the performers.

The festival will end with a solo concert of the star of the world opera Anna Netrebko.  German public will hear songs and romances of composers from France, the USA, Germany, Czech Republic, Great Britain and Russia. This program has already been heard by viewers in our country, Austria, the Czech Republic and the United States.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Mariinsky musicians came to Germany from Finland, where the traditional Gergiev Festival was held.
