Putin: Russian world and culture are always eager to cooperate

The Russian world and Russian culture are always open to cooperation and interaction, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin is sure. He said this during the presentation of awards to Russian and foreign citizens. Traditionally, the ceremony takes place as part of the celebration of National Unity Day, according to the Kremlin website.

According to the president, Russia was initially formed as a multinational and multiconfessional state. The Russian world manifests itself outside the same way it looks inside. 

The Russian leader expressed gratitude to the citizens of Russia, compatriots and friends of the country from abroad for their active work aimed at expanding cooperation between our Russia and other states. They bring in an atmosphere of mutual trust, which today is often sorely lacking, the Russian president added. Vladimir Putin praised the sincerity and openness of the friends of Russia country and their warm feelings for Russia.

Earlier, ten foreigners and citizens of Russia were awarded with the Order of Friendship for their great personal contribution to the development of cooperation and friendship between peoples, as well as for their active and fruitful work aimed at enriching and drawing together cultures of different nations. Six representatives of foreign higher education institutions were also awarded the Pushkin Medal.

The head of the Center for Research on Interethnic Relations of the Institute of Sociology Leokadia Drobizheva received the award for her contribution to strengthening the unity of the Russian nation. The president called her "a worthy citizen of his country." He recalled that it was Drobizheva who was one of the founders of Russian ethnosociology. The outstanding scientist has been studying the national, ethnic and civil all-Russian identity all her life.
