The International Vladimir Putin Prize, established in Burkina Faso, will be awarded to African leaders starting next year. The award will honor their contribution to the struggle for the liberation of the peoples of the continent and independent politics, TASS reports.

The head of the organizing committee, Mahamadi Sawadogo, spoke about the establishment of the award; its presentation took place in the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou. He noted that starting next year, the award will recognize leaders of African countries pursuing sovereign policies.

The chairman of the organizing committee hopes that the award ceremony will be held in Moscow with the participation of Vladimir Putin. Mahamadi Sawadogo is convinced that the prize can encourage many African leaders to defend the independence of their countries.

The award was proposed by Ivorian writer and member of the Total Support for Vladimir Putin in Africa Sylvain Taquet. It was previously stressed that the prize was named after Vladimir Putin, since the Russian leader has always advocated the liberation of Africa.
