Putin awards Order of Friendship to renowned foreigners

Several foreigners and citizens of Russia, a total of ten people, have received the Order of Friendship. They were awarded for their great personal contribution to the development of cooperation and friendship between peoples, as well as for their active and fruitful work aimed at enriching and drawing together cultures of different peoples. The head of state signed this decree, the document is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The public figures, cultural representatives and diplomats are among the awarded people, including composer Vadim Petrov and the head of the board of the Slavic Cultural Center association Tatyana Kuzina. 

Nicaragua Vice President Rosario Murillo Zambrana was awarded the order for merits in strengthening cooperation and friendship between the peoples of Russia and Nicaragua, as well as for rapprochement and mutual enrichment of cultures.

Six representatives of foreign higher education institutions were awarded the Pushkin Medal. The head of the department of Russian language and literature of the faculty of foreign languages ​​and literature of Kim Il-Sung University Lee Won Nam from the DPRK and Maria Chiara Pesenti from Italy, who is the professor of the Department of Slavic Studies at the University of Bergamo, are among them.

The Pushkin Medal will be awarded to Andres Santana Arribas from Spain, the head of the Pushkin Institute Russian Language and Culture Center at the University of Cadiz, as well as Nikolai Sergeyev, a representative of the CIS Institute in Belarus.

Among the recipients were Valerie Solty from Great Britain, chairman of the Solty Foundation, Nilakshi Suryanarayan from India, head of the department of Slavic and Finno-Ugric studies at the University of Delhi, Makarem Ahmed El-Gamri from Egypt, head of the Russian language department at Cairo University.
