Russia and the United States have enormous potential for expanding cooperation between higher educational institutions of the two countries, the ambassador of the Russian Federation Anatoly Antonov is sure. He said this during a speech at the reception of participants in the international educational conference NAFSA, TASS reports.

According to him, the globalization of the education system allows universities to attract more students from abroad. Russia is also interested in this as it is planned that the number of foreign students in Russian universities will double in five years. The best graduates will be able to get a job in Russia.

Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation between universities, expand joint programs of two diplomas, graduate and postgraduate studies. Student and academic exchanges and joint research are very important. The ambassador noted that the nature of serious science was international. Russian educational programs in the sphere of culture, art, and the study of the Russian language were very popular.

There is no doubt that both Russians educated in the United States and Americans who studied in our country become ambassadors for peace and help strengthen mutual understanding between our nations, the head of diplomatic representation summed up.

The NAFSA conference is an important global educational event. It involves about ten thousand people from hundreds of countries from all over the world. Representatives of universities and educational companies present their achievements in the field of modern learning technologies, share plans for the future, establish ties with their colleagues. Representatives of Russian universities also participate in it.
