Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that the French authorities thoroughly investigate the case of the injured journalist from Russia. The ministry noted that law enforcement officials used force against the RIA Novosti correspondent.

Viktoria Ivanova worked in the streets of Paris, doing her professional work. She covered the May Day demonstration. Despite the fact that her clothes had a special marking that allowed her to be identified as a media worker, she was attacked by a police officer.

RIA Novosti noted that the correspondent was in the thick of things, she was filming it with a mobile phone camera.

The police, trying to cope with the hooligans, used the batons, beating everyone around, including her. The woman received several hits to the arm and head. Victoria Ivanova sought medical help. Parisian doctors diagnosed her with a concussion, bruises on her left shoulder and forearm.

Russian Foreign Ministry called the use of violence against media employees unacceptable. Diplomats promised to monitor how the situation will develop.
