Master and Margarita play by Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel was called one of the most interesting events of theatrical season in the capital of the United States. It was staged by director Alison Erkel Stockman at Constellation Theater, TASS reports.

Theater critics said in their reviews that readers would notice that many changes have been made to the text after transferring it to the stage. Not all of it turned out to be for the better, but the experts were fascinated by how many actors played. The press admire the performers of both major and minor roles.

Most likely, the performance will not be able to convey all the richness and originality of a literary work to the audience, they write in their reviews. Nevertheless, this is a very dynamic, very sharp and funny production. Moreover, it turned out to be extremely topical. Many of the statements on politics and art, written a few decades ago, sound like they were born yesterday. This is another proof that Russian writer knowingly believed in the triumph of art.

The themes raised in this work are very modern, since it contains “striking parallels with current debate on issues relating to art and political correctness”.
