Russian-language theaters took part in the Big Tours program this year, TASS reports. Performers from Georgia and Abkhazia, Belarus and Moldova, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan presented their work in Russia. Theaters from Donetsk and Kyrgyzstan joined them. They were met by spectators in different cities of Russia from Astrakhan to Barnaul.

Leading Russian theaters visited the near-abroad countries and performed at the main Russian-language venues of these states. In total, the foreign program covered twelve countries, where they showed almost a hundred productions.

The Big Tours federal program has been implemented since 2014. The country's leading theaters perform in all Russian regions. In addition, the Big Tours also go international: theaters from Russia perform in other countries, and Russian-speaking foreign groups come to visit. This year over 270 theaters participated in the program; they showed about two thousand performances.

The final point of the 2019 project was set in Sochi.

Now the Ministry of Culture is already preparing for the next season. The department noted that every year the number of touring theaters is increasing, as well as the number of performances. The geography of the project is also expanding every year.

Big tours have already covered the entire territory of the country. The project can satisfy the most diverse tastes of the theater public. The theater is one of the most important and sought-after types of art in Russia, and touring activities allow it to develop and be updated not only in the capitals, but also in the most remote regions.
