Russian universities shown best results in subject ranking for 15 years

25 Russian universities are in the top 100 of the international subject rating of British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Moscow State University (MSU) demonstrated the best cumulative achievement of Russian universities. It is included in the top 50 in six disciplines. The highest place among Russian universities was taken by Saint Petersburg Mining University, which became the 19th in the world in Engineering - Mining Industry category, RIA Novosti reports. 

QS Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Zoya Zaitseva said that according to scientometric indicators, Russian universities had shown the best result in 15 years. Zaitseva commended the position of Russian universities in the Academic Reputation category. Most experts included at least one Russian university in the list of leaders. 

Russian universities have improved their performance in almost all of the ranking indicators in comparison with last year. For example, the citation index of scientific works of Russian scientists grew by almost 4%, and overall presence in the ratings increased by almost a third. QS international experts have noted Russian universities in 38 subject areas. According to Head of Social Navigator project Natalia Tyurina, this indicates the development of Russian higher education and its recognition worldwide.
