Russian universities jump up in international ranking of medical sciences

The number of Russian universities in the medicine Round University Ranking (RUR) has increased almost three times (from five to fourteen). The life sciences ranking raised the number of universities from nineteen to twenty-seven, RIA Novosti reports. The experts call 2018 a breakthrough year for Russia both in general and in subject ratings.

Moscow State University (MSU) demonstrates the best results among Russian universities in this and most other international rankings. In the natural sciences world list, it takes the 106 place rising up to fifteen positions in comparison with the last year. Tomsk State University is on 136 position becoming the second one in Russia. Novosibirsk State University hits the second hundred of the best natural science universities of the world. It showed a breakthrough rising by 101 positions up.

Moscow State University enjoys 209 position of the medical sciences ranking. The Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) and Tomsk State University are also in the list of 200 universities. RUDN climbed by 50 positions up within a year.

MIA Rossia Segodnya, which provides information support to the RUR project, explains that the boost of Russian universities in all ratings is grace for the implementation of federal programs for the universities development, in particular the 5–100 project. The ranking is composed of 800 leading universities from 74 countries.
