BRICS Summit discuss preservation of the UN role in global governance

Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking part in BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, TASS reports. 

First official event is a plenary BRICS Assembly in the narrow format. It was held in closed format without participation of the media. Russian, Brazilian, Indian, Chinese, South African Presidents have discussed the topic of preserving the UN role in international affairs.  In the center of attention is the multilateral trading system, based on the provisions of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement. Also issues off internet security and fighting terrorism were discussed. 

BRICS Summit meeting in expanded format takes an in-depth look at a cross-cutting theme of South African leading position in BRICS – using priorities and mitigating adverse social impact of the digital revolution. 

Russian President to discuss measures to further improvement of BRICS activities and cooperation development in several key priority areas.

Johannesburg Declaration to be adopted on the outcomes of the Summit.

As we reported earlier, Russian leader to have several bilateral talks with African, Chinese, Turkish and Indian leaders on the sidelines of the Summit.
