Russian high schoolers bring 3 golds and 1 silver from International Biology Olympiad

Russian high schoolers received 3 golden medals at the International Biology Olympiad, Rossiyskaya gazeta reports. The tournament was held in the Iranian capital the day before, July, 22. Russian team consisted of four participants.    

Daniil Afonin from Novosibirsk and his two peers from Moscow, Azat Garaev and Artyom Pustovid, received the gold, and Irina Iarutich from Moscow won the silver. All of them to start as freshmen of the Faculty of Biology at the Lomonosov MSU coming fall. 

Representatives of more then 70 countries came to Tehran to participate in the International Biology Olympiad. Participants were required to prove knowledge on major divisions of biology, including Molecular and Cellular Biology, anatomy and the physiology of plants, anatomy and the physiology of people and animals, ethology, genetics, evolution, and bio-systematics.
