Russians win six gold medals at the Science Olympiad in Bangkok

Russian high school students won 6 top awards at the  20th International Junior Science Olympiad. It was held in the Thai capital Bangkok. More than 300 school students from 55 countries were participating in the event, RIA Novosti reports. 

The entire Russian team, comprising 6 participants, clinched gold medals at the Olympiad. They were also honored with a special prize for the experimental round. Throughout the competition, students tackled tasks in physics, chemistry, and biology.

The national team comprised students from Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg public schools and lyceums. Valery Slobodyanin, head of the educational and methodological laboratory for working with gifted children of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, led the Russian team.

Russian Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov noted that the Russian participants showed "the highest level of preparation." He reiterated the acknowledgment of the Russian education system's esteemed status as among the world's leading ones. The Ministry's head extended gratitude to the teachers who guided the students and expressed confidence that significant scientific achievements await the participants.
