105th anniversary since consecration of St. Nicholas cathedral in Nice

website of Korsun EparchySt. Nicholas Cathedral in Nice marks 105th anniversary since its consecration, website of the Korsun Eparchy of Russian Orthodox Church reports. Bishop Nestor of Korsun Eparchy served the Divine Liturgy and Glorification Liturgy. The Senior Priest of the Cathedral Andrey Elyseev and Archpriest Vadim together with Senior Deacon Joann assisted Bishop Nestor.

After the Liturgy was over, Bishop Nestor preached to the congregation and congratulated them with forthcoming Day of St. Nicholas’ Commemoration marked on December 19. After that, Bishop Nestor introduced Archpriest Vadim to the congregation of St. Nicholas Cathedral who was blessed to enter the senior clergy of the Cathedral.

At present, St. Nicholas Cathedral is one of the most popular sights in Nice and the largest Orthodox cathedral of Western Europe. The Cathedral in Nice was being constructed for more than ten years and was completed at the expense of personal donations of Emperor Nicholas II, Prince Golitsyn and some other sponsors.

The cathedral was restored at the end of 2015 and passed on to the Korsun Eparchy of Russian Orthodox Church. Bishop Nestor consecrated the Cathedral at the Epiphany Day and the Cathedral was officially reopened.
