Hvorostovsky and Gergiev nominated for Grammy award

Dmileson//WikimediaThe world opera star Dmitri Hvorostovsky is nominated for the Grammy award postmortem, TASS reports. He was included into the list of nominees in The Best Classic Solo Album category. Together with orchestra conductor Constantine Orbelian, he was nominated for performing the orchestral version of Russia Cast Adrift a cycle of lyrical romances by Georgy Sviridov (verses by S. Yesenin).

It is worth reminding that few days ago the singer died after a long-lasting disease. After the cremation, a part of his remains was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow, the second part was buried in the native city of the opera singer in Krasnoyarsk.

There are other Russians among the nominees for this award. In particular, the grand master of conducting Valery Gergiev was nominated in the category The Best Opera Record for performing the opera The Golden Cockerel after Rimsky-Korsakov together with Mariinsky Symphony orchestra

Young Russian musician Daniil Trifonov was nominated in the category The Best Classic Instrumental Solo Performance for his piano series Transcendental Etudes after Ference Liszt

The gala awarding ceremony is planned for the end of January next year in New York.
