Valery Gergiev to perform in Vienna

The famous conductor Valery Gergiev will perform at the Vienna State Opera, TASS reports. He will be conducting Lohengrin opera put on stage by Andreas Homoki six years ago.

The first show of the new series is scheduled for Thursday, December 9. The public will also be able to watch the opera on January 12, 16 and 19. Piotr Beczała from Poland (tenor), Swedish soloist Cornelia Beskow, Linda Watson from the US (soprano), Egils Siliņš from Latvia and Ain Anger from Estonia will take the stage.

The Mariinsky theater notes that the maestro has been fruitfully cooperating with the Opera House in Vienna for several years now. The Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra performed there with great success. In addition, Gergiev was invited to conduct a production of Parsifal, which was included in the program of the Salzburg Festival.

In addition, Gergiev will perform with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The works of Russian composers will be performed in Vienna four times. The program includes The Winter Dreams by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. 

Valery Gergiev will then leave Austria and go on tour in European countries along with the Munich and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestras.
