Italian entrepreneur Marco Maggi's book, "Russian to the Bone," is now accessible for purchase in Italy and is scheduled for release in Russia in the upcoming months. In the book, Marco recounts his personal odyssey, narrating each stage of his life as a foreigner in Russia—starting from the initial fascination to the process of cultural assimilation, venturing into business, fostering authentic friendships, and ultimately, reaching a deep sense of identifying as a Russian at his very core. More than 100 thousand pictures of Russia’s wild nature made by Russian, German, Serbian, Finnish and Estonian photographers have been sent to the jury of ”The Most Beautiful Country” contest that is held by Russian Geographical Society, reports RIA Novosti.
Minister of Defence and Head of the organization Sergey Shoygu thanked all the photographers who had taken part in the contest. About 23 000 professionals and amateurs of all ages had sent their photographs. The oldest participant was 87 years old and the youngest was 5.
The results of the contest will be summarized in November and the winners will be announced at a festival held by the Russian Geographical Society. The winners will be selected in more than 10 nominations.
The main goal of the project is to attract people’s attention to the problem of conservation of the Russian nature and to instill a solicitous attitude toward environment. The winner for best work will get a substantial sum of money and be titled the photographer of the year. Moreover, the winner will have the opportunity to take part in one of the expeditions held by the Russian Geographical Society.
