As the third day of the Summer Universiade drew to a close yesterday, Russian athletes had already picked up more than 20 medals, reports TASS. Members of the Russian team have now made it onto the highest step of the pedestal four times, with another 12 silver and seven bronze medals between them. This bounty of medals puts Russia into sixth place overall in the competition. Leading the tables are the hosts, South Korea.

Anna Bashta took home the gold medal for fencing yesterday, with another silver for fencing secured by the Russian team. Two silvers and one bronze medal were won by the Russian team for pistol shooting, and one bronze medal for judo.

As reported by the Russkiy Mir website, the competition is being held in the South Korean city of Gwangju. More than 400 sportsmen make up team Russia.
