The organizing committee of the “Brodsky on Ischia” award announced the names of the 2015 winners, TASS reports. The announcement came on May 24, when the poet would have turned 75 years old.

According to the organizers, the award is intended to strengthen ties between cultural figures of Italy and Russian and serve as a reminder of the friendship which unites the peoples of both countries. Head of the organizing committee Massimo Zivelli also noted that Ischia is attracting an increasing number of Russian tourists.

The laureates will receive the award on June 9 in a ceremony held on the island. This will be the third year that the statue in the form of a man reading a book will be handed out.
